25 weeks

We've had quite a week...and even got to do our first, and hopefully only, trial run to the hospital!

After posting last Sunday, Kory and I put together the changing table and went to bed at about 11:30 p.m. I was feeling what I thought was indigestion/reflux. By 2 a.m. I was up with the stomach flu that has been going around (at least in my family). I never really could imagine how awful it was to have the flu while pregnant because I was lucky enough never to have to throw up during my morning sickness.

Kory and I were up off and on (more on than off!) for the next three hours and I was not getting any better. At 5 a.m. I called the on-call doctor because I wasn't sure what all my "sickness" was doing to Baby Keebs. She told us to come into the ER to at least get some fluids, which would make me feel better.

Less than an hour later we were in the ER and getting an IV. We got to hear Baby Keebs' heartbeat nice and strong (and loud too!), which was very comforting! They gave me 2 liters of fluids and some anti-nausea medicine and a little while later I was feeling pretty good. I was however, experiencing some tightness in my belly, which landed us in Labor & Delivery for the next several hours.

They monitored me and Baby Keebs for a while. Now we got to hear her heartbeat and every move she'd make! They found that I was having some "irritability" which is not quite a contraction, but I guess has the potential to lead to them. They gave me a shot of Terbutaline (quite possibly the worst feeling I've ever experienced from a medicine!) to stop whatever was going on. I then felt awful all over again and wound up "losing" all the Sierra Mist I had managed to drink.

Again it was decided that I was still dehydrated and back up went the IV fluids. To make this already long story shorter, we were there for 11 hours and 5 liters of IV fluids. By the time we made it home, neither of us had slept since 2 a.m. and were quite exhausted. I went to bed a little after 8 p.m. and didn't get up until 7:30 a.m.!

Now we are doing much better and thankfully Kory hasn't experienced any symptoms of the flu himself. I'm still keep my fingers crossed that it stays that way!

Baby Keebs is making us laugh with her activity lately. Last night she was stretching out to where we could feel her kicking/punching on both sides of my belly at the same time. Guess that really means she's growing!

Our next doctor appointment is Tuesday, at which I'm sure we'll schedule my glucose testing. Grandma K. is very excited that she gets to go with. Let's just hope it is a normal, uneventful appointment (they really are the best kind)!

That's all for now. Baby Keebs, keep growing healthy and strong. We're very excited to meet you this summer...it's less than 99 days to go now! We love you very much!

24 weeks

We made big progress in the nursery so we're doing a photo update this week.

First, the usual belly shot...

Now for the fun stuff...Baby Keebs' room!

This is the before. Grandma and Grandpa K. came to help us with step 1. Thank you!

The top half of all the walls is a very light cream color. The name was Lemon Pearl. It didn't really look all that yellow until after step 2.

Daddy did a lot of work in the room for his baby girl.

Momma was able to help out with some of the jobs!

She did just enough work to remember why she said she'd never tape a horizontal line again. This time she promised never again.

Step 2...Daddy officially dislikes how thin this orange paint was. It's called Rumbly Tumbly and I think that's exactly what it was making Daddy's tummy do after painting 5 coats!

That's as far as we got for now. We'll post more as soon as we have it, and trust me, we have a LOT more to go!

Baby Keebs we can't wait to meet you this summer, but for now we're having fun getting your room ready for you! We love you very much!

Extreme close up of momma... There's no hiding her now!

Snapshot of our lives

Music that we have been listening to lately: Momma listens and sings to country ALL the time! Baby Girl doesn't really respond to the singing yet. I hope that doesn't mean she doesn't like my singing! Daddy tries to expose Baby Keebs to some variety and changes the station whenever we're in the car.

Recent movie we've seen: The last movie we saw was The Blind Side. Excellent movie! I don't remember the last movie we saw in the theater though.

Books we're reading right now: Momma's been reading What to Expect When You're Expecting for a while now. Daddy just finished another Jimmy Buffett book. We joined the local library last week and Daddy has plans to take full advantage of it. We've also been reading some bedtime stories to Baby Keebs.

Top news story right now: Most of the big news stories are who is cheating on who so I don't think there's too much importance in this topic right now. Breaking news around the Kebert house includes that nursery bedding has been purchased and work on the nursery will start very soon!

Other: We had a doctor appointment this week. Everything looks good and is right on schedule. When we told the doctor that we weren't 100% sure that Baby Keebs was a girl, he immediately got out the handheld ultrasound and checked for himself. Her legs weren't crossed this time and he said he saw what he needed to consider Baby Keebs a girl. So while obviously we can't be 100% sure until the day she gets here, we're even more confident that she's a she!

That's all for now. Baby Keebs, we love you and are so excited that we get to feel you move around more often these days. We're really looking forward to meeting you this summer!

Our first published family shot with the belly!

Weight gain to date:
11 pounds

Latest cravings:
Peanut butter and jelly on white bread. This is not so much a craving in the sense that I want it at weird times. Really it just tastes soooo good when I eat it for lunch. I qualify it as a special treat because I haven't had a sandwich on white bread in years, but last week the grocery store didn't have our wheat bread. I figured one week of white bread wouldn't hurt anything, but then I fell "in love." It's just so yummy! I figured, I could be eating much worse so I'm not too worried.

Other notes:
This week was Easter so Baby Girl Keebs has been dancing away at night after Momma enjoys some sweets. She's definitely moving around more often these days, but we're still waiting for the big kicks!

We spent Easter Sunday at Grandma and Papa C.'s today. I came home with one full belly! And of course a basket of goodies to enjoy over the next few weeks. Grandma and Grandpa K. might be surprised to see how big the belly has gotten by the time they get home from Memphis!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday with their families. We most certainly did! We have a doctor's appointment Tuesday and a trip to Champaign for work on Thursday so time is starting to fly by. Summer time will be here before we know it!

Happy Easter Baby Keebs! We can't wait to take you to see the Easter Bunny next year! We love you so very much!
